Located in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, Timberlake, Smith, Thomas & Moses, P.C. has served a wide variety of clients in Staunton and surrounding counties since it was formed in 1948 by Wayt Timberlake and Dick Smith. To meet the needs of its diverse clientele, it has grown from a two person partnership to a 14 lawyer firm.
Timberlake, Smith's Business Group provides banks, health care providers and businesses with a broad range of legal services. It represents individuals and businesses in real estate and other transactions, as well as bank trust departments and individuals in estate planning and trust and estate administration.
The Litigation Group emphasizes the defense of civil cases in state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels, with significant experience and expertise in cases involving medical malpractice, civil rights and employment, commercial and business disputes, personal injury, workers' compensation, and family law.
The firm's Education Law Group serves as general counsel to more than 20 school boards and individual schools throughout Virginia providing advice on a growing and increasingly specialized set of issues confronting the education community.
Timberlake, Smith has been consistently rated AV by Martindale Hubbell, the highest rating available for competence and ethical standards. Four of its lawyers are listed in The Best Lawyers in America, two are Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers, two have served as Presidents of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, and three are Fellows of the Virginia Law Foundation.
