Appellate/Complex Litigation Support

Attorneys at Timberlake, Smith, Thomas & Moses appear before all Virginia state and federal appeals courts. Our lawyers assist trial counsel in developing legal strategy and preserving issues for potential appeal. We analyze appellate strategies; prepare and submit records on appeal; submit petitions and brief for appeals, including interlocutory appeals; and draft all appellate briefs. We also follow the development of law in all substantive areas of the firm's practice and are familiar with the rules of appellate procedure as well as issues concerning state and federal court jurisdiction. In addition, our complex litigation attorneys assist trial counsel in litigation that requires extensive legal research and writing assignments. We assist with the preparation of affirmative defenses, motions to dismiss, demurrers, motions for summary judgment, motions in limine, and post-trial motions and memoranda of law.
